Story behind the lamp
After designing the Wood Vase, I wanted to make a lamp. I made a few concepts, but I didn’t really like any of them. Then I kind of forgot about it and went back to the vase design and tried printing it very thin to see how it would look and feel.
After printing it, I tested how strong it was. I told my father it wouldn’t break if I dropped it. It did break, but only at the top and bottom of the pattern. The patterned part was much stronger. When we looked at it, we thought it actually looked like a lampshade when turned upside down. That’s when the Wood Lamp idea came to life.
