Story behind the lamp
I wanted to create a completely different lamp from the Wood Lamp. I was inspired by a lamp I saw in a store that had lots of small holes where the light came through. At first, I made a few big holes in the shade, but it looked really weird. So I added many more holes and made them much smaller. That looked better, but it still felt a bit off.
When I looked at it again, I thought it looked like a night sky full of stars. That gave me the idea to arrange the holes like star patterns. The concept was really cool, but when I 3D printed it, I couldn’t separate the patterns from each other and couldn’t really see what they were. So I added thin lines between the patterns, so you can actually see the shapes.
After that, I was finally happy with the shade. I then designed a thin base where the shade can rotate, so you can choose which pattern you want to show. At the bottom, it fits an LED.
