Story behind the phone stand
My father travels a lot by plane for work and likes to watch movies on his phone, but there’s usually nowhere to place it. So I made a stand that fits into the cup holder on the tray table, so the phone wouldn’t slide during turbulence. It worked pretty well, but it only had one angle. Since people are different heights and tray tables are placed differently, that wasn’t very practical. The stand was also a bit too big.
So I redesigned it. I made the plate adjustable so the phone can be set at almost any angle, making the screen face you properly. I also made it possible to fold the plate all the way down, so the stand becomes very thin and easy to carry in a pocket or bag.
There was still one problem: my father also wanted to use it in other places, and it could slide on smooth surfaces. To fix that, I added anti-slip tape on the bottom. After that, the design finally felt finished.
Note
If the part that holds the phone becomes loose, it can be tightened using an Allen key.
