LICC needed a fast solution, and since they are located nearby, I was able to deliver a working prototype within 48 hours.
LICC is a Norwegian company that operates many ice cream trucks. They needed a better way to connect the sink inside the truck to a garden hose, so dirty water could be led into a small tank outside. The problem was that no good adapter existed for this setup. Using standard parts required connecting three different pieces, which not only cost around 440 NOK per truck, but also took extra time to install. With more than 100 trucks, both the cost and the time spent on installation became too high.
That’s why they contacted me. I designed and 3D printed a custom adapter that solved the problem in a simpler, cheaper, and cleaner way. My design is also much easier and faster to install, since it’s made as one single part instead of several pieces. The adapter has threads on the top that fit directly onto the sink, and an opening with a pattern that securely connects to the hose. I chose to print it in a strong material called ABS so it would last over time.
Today, more than 90 trucks are using my design.
